My name is Blanca, I am 19 years old and 3 years ago I started weaving bracelets for Sembrando Sonrisas. I dreamed of graduating school but I had to leave middle school. My family didn’t had money to pay for my education. When I turned 17 I had my first daughter, I was already working with Wakami and that helped me a lot. Wakami has helped my family, not only my husband and daughters, but also my little sister. Wakami supported her with a scholarship. I dream of seeing my sister graduated, I dream of having a house of my own that has a kitchen and maybe even a small store. I am grateful to Wakami for the opportunity they gave my sister. I am thankful to God because my whole family is in good health.
I was born in Guatemala, I’m in love with life, with colors, with art and with exploring and learning from this world. I’m a firm believer that passion is what make things beautiful. I’m interested in alternative education, performing arts, women empowerment and dogs. I worked on the fashion industry for a while, even though I love it, I always felt I was lacking a why, a purpose. This is why I now work at Wakami, telling stories and changing the reality of my country one character at a time
